Learn some tricks and techniques that will make hand sewing a breeze.

ITEMS SAVED FROM THE LANDFILL: fabric, thread, needles, and anything that you may fix & repurpose with your new skill!
SKILLS LEARNED: hand sewing skills, techniques, & tricks
This class will teach you some tricks and techniques that will make hand sewing a breeze. When you know some basic hand sewing techniques, you can make repairs and do small projects quickly and easily. We will put some of our new skill to work by stiching and then filling up a little hand sewing kit for students to take home.
This class will offer you skills to create a beautiful woven macrame wall hanging.

ITEMS SAVED FROM THE LANDFILL: T-shirts, yarn, cord, wood
SKILLS LEARNED: macrame and knot tying
Macrame is an easy and affordable craft. This class will teach you how to make a whole ball of yarn from a T-shirt, plus teach you a few basic knots that you'll be able to use to create a variety of macrame projects. This class will offer you skills to create a beautiful woven macrame wall hanging.
The cost of this hands-on workshop reflects the small class size. We want to insure that everyone gets individual help as needed.

ITEMS SAVED FROM THE LANDFILL: yarn, canvas, tools
SKILLS LEARNED: latch hooking
Latch hook: (n.) handheld tool similar to a latch needle, used for drawing loops of yarn through canvas or similar material to make rugs and the like.
Latch hooking is a fun and relaxing craft in which segments of yarn are knotted to a canvas grid with a latch hook tool. A finished piece can be used to make small rug, wall hanging, or pillow.
In the spirit of creative reuse, students will learn about different options for creating a canvas, and how to use up yarn ends! Students will also learn how to transfer a design, how to work the latch hook tool, and how make your latch hook knot. There will be time to work on your uniqe designs in class.
Rebel Craft Rumble is a live action creative competition mash up of TV shows like Iron Chef and Making It.
Four teams will compete in a battle of high pressure creative problem solving and artistic wit to become the next Extreme Ultimate Supreme Craft Masters in SCRAP Humboldt’s seventh annual Rebel Craft Rumble on Saturday, March 28th at the Arcata Playhouse, 1251 9th street, in Arcata. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a Happy Hour! Mingle with the teams, grab some grub, quench your thirst with drink specials, bid on silent auction, and more! The lights will dim and the competition starts at 7:30 p.m.
Rebel Craft Rumble is a live action creative competition mash up of TV shows like Iron Chef and Making It. All materials in the challenges are reused and gleaned from the unique and varied inventory at SCRAP Humboldt’s creative reuse center. This 18+ fundraiser for SCRAP Humboldts educational programs sells out so grab your tickets early. The challenges will be titillating, the pressure will be palpable and the fun will only happen once a year!
Cancellation Policy: SCRAP reserves the right to cancel, combine or reschedule classes to adjust for enrollment. If SCRAP cancels a class, you may transfer to another class or receive a full refund.
Refund Policy: Notice of withdrawal from a workshop must be made at least 7 days prior to the start of the class and your full amount will be refunded. No refunds will be given for withdrawals made after that time. No refunds or credits will be given for classes missed due to illness, personal conflict or other reasons. There are no exceptions to this policy. Please e-mail email@example.com if you wish to withdraw from a workshop.
